Double Wing Bloopers/Outtakes

Lest you get the wrong impression by my edited video with these beautiful wings that I never mess up, I figured I’d post some bloopers and outtakes!

In my defense let me say that the full span I’m working with extends to 13′ which is a WIDE circumference when you consider that the space I have to work with is only slightly larger and with furniture it’s slightly less, which is why you see a lot of upward motion.

Regrettably I got so paranoid about hitting stuff then I started not doing big enough arm movements which caused the silk to get caught up – LOL.

The moral of this story is to always make sure you have adequate space when using these 😉

By the way, anyone else notice in the picture (where I’m doing the sheepish grin after the first smack onto furniture) the wings actually formed butterfly wings around me? How cool is that?!

  1. LOL I love it! I was imagining how difficult it was to work them both but you just looked so graceful! I think that was one reason I keep going back to it cause I am so impressed with how beautifully you worked them. This looks more like what I can do with such grand wings! You’re adorable Meghan!

  2. @Julie – I thought I better keep it real 😉 Thank you for your kind words, I can at least acknowledge I’m improving! Lol 🙂

The next set of wings I’m gonna post I decided not to edit down so you’ll see the bloopers in context. I probably post it tomorrow or the next day.

    Bless you!

  3. Thanks for keeping it real!

We often make those types of bloopers (hitting walls, low ceilings, etc.) at church. It’s nice to know we’re not the only ones! 🙂

    Have a Blessed day!!

  4. Even with the bloopers Meghan, it is still Beautiful. I too have hit a few things!!! You do very Beautifully with the 2. ♥ ya

  5. *giggles* and there’s nothin’ quite like that happening when people are, like, watching you. i usually prefer BIG flags and am totally bummed if we’re worshiping in a hotel with lowered ceilings. i have to flag from the floor on my knees ;o)

  6. THERE IS NO WAY THERE COULD EVER BE AS YOU CALL IT “A BLOOPER”, THESE SWING FLAGS, SCARVES, ECT. ARE SO BEAUTIFUL, THAT’S ALL YOU ARE LOOKING AT IN THE VIDEO OR PIC, SO DON’T THINK YOU COULD MAKE A BLOOPER IF YOU TRIED TO. . . I THANK GOD FOR GIVING ALL OF YOU THE TALENT AND PATIENCE TO ENDURE THE HARD WORK THAT GOES INTO MAKING THESE BEAUTIFUL PIECES
OF ART. . GOD BLESS YOU TO BE ABLE TO CONTINUE WITH YOUR(GOD’S) WORK. . .

  7. Ya know, the cracking sound adds to the effect….just go with it. 🙂 I love the laugh Meghan!

  8. So there’s hope for us novices yet. 😀 Thanks Meghan.

  9. As Elaine says, we hit the ceiling ALL the TIME at our church offices, where the ceiling is just over 7 feet..we laugh all the time when all the sudden you hear WHACK!! from the wing dowel or the swing flag chain hitting the ceiling. Even some of the most talented flaggers out there have bloopers, it is just natural. And watch out for your pooch, laying right there beside you watching! haha!

  10. I too loved hearing you laugh!!! Even your “bloopers” were beautiful! ANd your typed comment at the end just made me laugh! Blessings! 🙂

  11. “I’m Tired!”

hehehe Megs too cute. As one who uses a polyester scarf right now to worship with lets just say I’m amazed at how tired your arms get so fast?! I can only imagine what it was like with the wings hehe. When Papa leads and provides I’ll definitely go swing flags and scarves 😀

  12. @Melissa – So fast? Bear in mind you are not seeing all the takes in the videos! Also bear in mind you are younger and in better shape 😉 LOL!

  13. @Megs I was talking about me worshiping with a scarf, 10-15 mins and my arms are tired rofl (I know sad haha) and you’re using wings, I’d never make it that long with wings! I guess I’d better start working my arms out a whee eh? 😛

  14. @Melissa – that makes more sense! I was like WOW she’s being hard on me LOL 🙂 BTW I don’t go by any version of Meg, per God’s orders. Here’s the story: http://meghanw.com/2008/10/06/meghan-vs-meg-whats-in-a-name/ 🙂

  15. You’re so silly with your bloopers! Love ’em! And as for that tiredness thing…usually I’m dancing instead of flagging, but nowadays I’ll pretty much go till I collapse (which I have before…when it happens, everyone just assumes I’m in reallllllly deep worship, LOL!). So don’t worry, when you drop the flags & cry, we’ll be the only ones who know it’s because you’re tired & in pain, everyone else will assume your worship just hit a whole ‘nother level 😉

  16. I know it’s been awhile since you did this video but do you know how long the dowels are in those? I have flags with varing lengths and my favorite long flags use a full dowel – 1 yd (36″) – so the flag is about 2 yards long. I was wondering if this was the same?

And I love the butterfly effect. Silk is such a perfect weight for some flagging effects – like butterfly wings and fire or water.

  17. @Rebecca – They’re 48″ long. The semicircles are 104″ long 🙂
