How-To Use Swing Flag(s)

A long overdue how-to use swing flag(s) video!Β  I cover both singles and pairs in this video.Β  Also,Β  I realized there were a few things I forgot to say in the video (there goes the brain fog again!).Β  The weighted corner is called the “lead corner” and it needs to be pointing forward when you hold it (as you see me doing in the video, I just forgot to say it).

I’m sorry the video is so contrasty – because of the sunshine coming in the window it had me VERY dark, and when I brightened it it got contrasty, but the info in it hopefully makes up for my lacking videography skills πŸ˜‰

There are a number of things I would have explained differently if I were fully functional – so post any questions you may have in your comments and I’ll likely do a follow-up video!

The beautiful music in the background is by Music to Pray By – it’s Podcast 43 (my fav).

  1. Well I guess I better make a how-to huh? haha! Loved it Meghan, good job.

  2. Thanks Meghan! Yes Joshua!! Please do!!!

  3. This is a GREAT how-to video, I don’t know what else you could have added! You have some great ideas, thanks so much for sharing them. My favorite way to use your swing flags are to just use one, and do the figure-8’s on either side of myself for 4 counts, then 1 figure-8 over my head & down to my feet, while marching around the room to upbeat music during our praise & worship. They’re so joyful, and so easy to use! Thank you, Meghan! πŸ™‚

  4. do you hold the swing flags with the weight in front of you or the weight behind you. I’ve tried both ways and can’t tell. Both ways the flags tends to get tangled up.

  5. @Tracy – In front πŸ™‚ But once you get the hang of them, they should not be getting tangled.

Also are these ones you made? Or that I made for you? Proper weighting is vital and this how-to gives instructions on how to make them using silk from Dyed4you, if you used a different fabric, it’s possible your amount of weighting needed to be adjusted.Β

    Hope that helps!

  6. Never have I seen this form of worship…but I’m on FIRE to do this.

Thank you for being so generous to share your teaching and skills with us.

    Warmly,
    Suttie

  9. Are the 8mm silk swing flags durable?

    1. Generally speaking yes, but some people who are particularly rough during worship have had issues with holes in the silk. That said, I have pairs that I’ve used for years that still look brand new and ones at my church that are available for public use (which tends to be extra hard on flags) have held up great. So again, generally yes the 8mm holds up.

  10. Do you have any in stock?

  11. what do you use for a weight?

    1. There is a link and description in the instructions in this post πŸ™‚

  12. Hello! I’m a praise dancer, new to flag worship. I have been inspired by a young man (A Salazar) that dances with your flags on YouTube. There is a specific set of ‘Swing Flags’ he dances with on one video that I just love! It’s a tie-dye of blue, black and I think green? Anyhow, I’m wondering about pricing and the size, so I can make sure it’s not too big for me to learn with.

    Thank you!

    1. His Heart in Battle is the name of the style and they were regular-size swing flags πŸ™‚
