Description

Our tallits are 100% silk with a light weight and smooth touch. This fabric is what people often call “China silk.” They are light weight with slight sheen to the surface. The regular size is approximately 22×72″ and have a hand-rolled and hand-sewn hem, and oversized is 45×72″ with a and have a hand-rolled and machine-sewn hem. Both are 8mm weight. Measurements are done before hemming and dyeing, so actual sizes will be a bit smaller. They come in either beaded tzitzits or simple tassels and are attached to the four corners. The beaded ones are delicate, so treat them gently. If you want something more for everyday use, consider the tassel tallit. A verse that ties in with your particular silk can be written in Hebrew in shimmer along each end of the silk.

Both types of tzitzits – whether tassels or beaded – are in accordance with Numbers 15:37-41

The LORD said to Moses, “Speak to the people of Israel, and tell them to make tassels on the corners of their garments throughout their generations, and to put a cord of blue on the tassel of each corner. And it shall be a tassel for you to look at and remember all the commandments of the LORD, to do them, not to follow after your own heart and your own eyes, which you are inclined to whore after. So you shall remember and do all my commandments, and be holy to your God. I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt to be your God: I am the LORD your God.”

Each tzitzit has 1 intentionally blue strand running through it. The beaded ones are strung on blue and on the tassels there is a blue strand in each hand-crafted tassel. They are put on the four corners in accordance with Deuteronomy 22:12, “You shall make yourself tassels on the four corners of the garment with which you cover yourself.”

Jewish tradition states that these tassels must be created intentionally, much in the same way one doesn’t wake up one morning and OOPS have a wedding ring on. These tzitzits symbolize your commitment to YHWH (the LORD) and to His word. This is not a matter to be taken lightly. By you requesting these tzitzits, you have indicated your intent, which I will carry out on your behalf.

PLEASE NOTE our tallit/prayer shawls are created by a Christian and the letter that comes with it may include scriptures from the New Testament. If you are not a Christian, you are still welcome to purchase one, but please be aware that our tzitzyot are not in the traditional knotted fashion, but again, we do have the blue cord running through them according to scripture.

Also, if you’re interested in knowing more about why someone would want to use a tallit, we have a post with a video that touches on that on our blog: Custom Beaded Tallit (And Why One Might Use One).

When creating our silks, we want to make you what God wants you to have – so we encourage you to resist asking for personal preferences (unless that’s what He’s prompted you to do). If He has highlighted a color or scripture, please include that in the personalization section. Otherwise, please leave it blank and we will create as He leads. If you’re interested, more information on how we create our silks is also available.
